Kid of Character nominees for December

The following students were nominated as Kids of Character for December.

Alliance

Menen Selassie, Alliance Middle School, 7th grade – When Menen enters a classroom she always seems positive, enthusiastic, and ready to learn. She truly takes to heart the idea that a student needs to take ownership and participate in their education because each day that she comes into class she is actively learning.

Carson Smith, Alliance Middle School, 7th grade – Carson never complains, always has his work complete, and he is kind, making sure everyone in class is included. His classmates trust him, and he never lets them down.

Canton City

Kiah Collins, Fairmount Learning Center, 6th grade – She is kind to staff always asking for hugs and she is kind to students, sharing and giving students words of encouragement. She is always able to talk to students to use coping and calming strategies when she sees that they could use one.

Matteus Wideman, Clarendon, 5th grade – Matteus is a tremendous young man. He always has a smile on his face and greets everyone he meets with a “Hello” and “How are you today?” He strives to do his best in the classroom and never hesitates to help out a fellow classmate if they are struggling.

Canton Local

Peyson Fletcher, Canton South Middle School, 6th grade – Peyson is an energetic, kind young lady who always smiles and displays a contagious zest for life. We appreciate her willingness to work hard every day.

Robert Taylor, Canton South Middle School, 6th grade – Robert is an extraordinarily kind and hard-working young man. He is quiet; however, his work ethic is screamingly impressive. He gives 100% in everything that he does.

Fairless Local

Morgan Burdge, Fairless Middle School, 8th grade – Morgan is a very sweet girl who is always willing to go out of her way and help others. She is an excellent role model for others, and she exemplifies all of the characteristics of a student who follows our SOAR matrix.

Jack Kirby, Fairless Middle School, 7th grade – Jack works well with his peers. He is polite and always completes his work on time. He is patient and kind to all.

Jackson Local

Brooklyn Woolbert, Lake Cable Elementary, 5th grade – Brooklyn is a positive leader in our school and with her fifth grade peers. She is cheerful, kind and a good friend to everyone. Brooklyn always has a smile on her face and an upbeat attitude.

Lake Center Christian

Ellie Klingelhofer, Lake Center Christian School, grade 6 – Ellie's words and actions consistently show respect to others. She treats others with kindness and compassion. Whether dealing with younger students or her peers, she patiently encourages them in a gentle, calm, kind and friendly manner.

Roland Tufts, Lake Center Christian School, grade 8 – Through word and action, Roland chooses to treat every classmate with respect and kindness. He is respectful in the classroom and outside of the classroom to his peers and teachers.

Lake Local

Natalie Laymon, Lake Middle/High School, grade 8 – Natalie Laymon is an outstanding young person in all regards. She is honest, hardworking, and also so humble in her approach to her academics and her music. Natalie has been a helper to struggling peers on multiple occasions; this includes both academic and personal/emotional support. She is also very active in service outside of school with her Girl Scout troop.

Nathaniel Mosher, Lake Middle/High School, grade 8 – Nate’s strong character shines in the classroom where he is always friendly and dependable. He has a wonderful sense of humor and he is well respected by his peers.

Louisville City

Liliana Schultheis, Louisville Middle School, 8th grade – Liliana was an outstanding example of caring during our D.C. trip this fall. She was willing to help a friend who was injured get around the city and sites during the entire trip. She constantly made sure her friend had everything she needed and was able to enjoy the trip.

Kaiden Barker, Louisville Middle School, 8th grade – Kaiden is a friendly and outgoing young man. He greets his peers and adults with kind words and a smile. His positive attitude is encouraging and makes everyone's day.

Marlington Local

Lia Foith, Marlington Middle School, 7th grade – Lia is such a polite, hard-working, and responsible student. She takes leadership roles in and out of the classroom and serves in Student Council.

Liam Stokes-Matz, Marlington Middle School, 7th grade – Liam has a great personality and attitude, and he makes the classroom a better place. He acts in a positive way both in and out of school.

Massillon

Za’Riyah Norris-Kelly, Massillon Intermediate School, 6th grade – Za’Riyah Norris-Kelly came to Massillon from Georgia a few weeks into the school year, and has made a smooth transition. She is so kind, thoughtful and super pleasant. She works really hard in class and always wants to do her best, as well as assist others. She respects everyone in the classroom. Za’Riyah’s contagious smile and infectious personality makes coming to school every day pleasant. She is more than deserving of this recognition.

William Nichols, Massillon Intermediate School, 6th grade – Will has settled in nicely since coming to Massillon. Will is a kind and well-liked young man. He is respectful to everyone, adults and peers. Will is thoughtful to others and is a good friend. Will always jumps in to help clean up or help a friend. He has a kind heart. We are proud to call him a Tiger.

Minerva Local

Lilybet Weaver, Minerva Middle School, 7th grade – Lily has been awesome as she has made the transition to MMS. She always has a smile on her face and always has a positive attitude in class. She brings so much joy to seventh grade and we are so glad she is part of the Middle School family.

Landon Clark Minerva Middle School, 7th grade – Landon has really turned it around this year. He is a great teammate and very competitive. He is always willing to help and tries to show our core values in all he does.

North Canton City

Elianna Hicklin, North Canton Middle School, 8th grade – Although quiet, Elianna is a great student and caring individual here at North Canton Middle School. She is a delight to have here in the North Canton School District.

Hudson Faye, North Canton Middle School 8th grade – Hudson is a quality student and citizen at North Canton Middle School. He is one of North Canton's finest and we are proud to have him represent the Middle School.

Northwest Local

Adalie Horsfall, Northwest Middle School, 8th grade – Adalie is an outstanding student who is also a member of the volleyball and basketball teams. She plays trombone in the school band, and is already taking in several high school level courses. In her spare time, she enjoys reading fiction and exploring nature. The oldest of four girls, Adalie plans to attend college after high school, but is unsure at this point what she would like to do for a career.

Elijah Schreiner, Northwest Middle School, 8th grade – Elijah is a member of the boys basketball and track teams. Outside of school, he plays soccer, enjoys playing video games and is involved in his church youth group. Elijah is the oldest of two children, and hopes to attend college and one day work at NASA.

Perry Local

Zekayah Pearson-Garrett, Whipple Elementary, 4th grade – Zekayah constantly demonstrates great manners and friendliness. Whether it is someone she has something in common with or not, she is always looking for ways to be helpful. She consistently works hard in school and in her many extracurricular activities.

Joshua Becher, Edison Middle School, 7th grade – Josh is a very responsible student. We appreciate his positive attitude and friendly nature. He is a hard worker and a joy to have in class.

Plain Local

Caroline Pace, Glenwood Intermediate School – Caroline demonstrates what being a motivated, intelligent and kind sixth grader looks like. Constant positive participation in class and always being an active learner are ways that “Nina” shows her leadership. Her incredible effort and attitude make her a special young lady at Glenwood.

Kaidence Stevens, Oakwood Middle School – Kaidence is always kind, compassionate and quick to help a student who is struggling. He is very hard working and always asks for help when needed. Kaidence goes the extra mile when it comes to his academics. He is a true student of character.

Sandy Valley

Rebecca Gamber, Sandy Valley Middle School, 6th grade – Rebecca Gamber is caring toward others, and her classmates and teachers appreciate the warmth she brings to our school. Rebecca’s favorite subject is math and she hopes to be a math teacher when she grows up. Outside of school, Rebecca plays soccer and she enjoys showing animals for 4H, especially showing her hog, for which she placed third overall. Rebecca is a true Cardinal of Character.

Jayden Stoll, Sandy Valley Middle School, 6th grade – Jayden Stoll was nominated as a Kid of Character because of the kindness he shows others by giving compliments. Jayden enjoys anything artistic and hopes to be a graphic designer when he grows up. He spends his free time drawing and enjoys watching The Avengers. One of his strengths is his sense of humor and he uses it often to cheer up others.

St. Thomas Aquinas

Carley Stokes, St. Thomas Aquinas, 6th grade – Carley is a hard worker, extremely kind, and a great role model for her peers. You can always count on Carley to do the right thing.

Julian White, St. Thomas Aquinas, 6th grade – Julian is kind and respectful to his classmates and teachers. He can always make you laugh and is a great addition to our class.

Stark County Catholic elementary schools

Augustine Schafer, Our Lady of Peace Catholic School – Augustine is very helpful in the classroom, either doing his work, or helping others. His teacher thinks his positive attitude is what makes it fun for him to learn. Augustine is involved with Game Club and Adventure Lego Club, and is active in soccer.
