When you're a kid, baseball games are all about the food. Ever notice the lyrics to "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" say "I don't care if I never get back" because of all the peanuts and Cracker Jack, not because anyone is actually watching baseball? So after your parents have ponied up a small fortune to get you something from the overpriced concession stands, is there anything worse than seeing your gameday grub plummet to the ground?

One little kid went viral this week when he lost his hot dog mid-game and gave the ultimate upset reaction… but at least it seems he's going to get some free hot dogs out of the mishap.

The dog drop took place during Sunday's Chicago White Sox game against the visiting Detroit Tigers. The White Sox came from behind to win 5 to 3 to complete the sweep, but a bigger turn of events came from an unidentified child in the stands. NBC Sports Chicago caught the kid on camera as his unorthodox hot dog eating technique sent the frankfurter slipping out of the bun… followed by his absolutely adorable reaction, a classic palm to the face.

The video was then posted to Twitter and has been viewed over 2 million times.

The cute clip was picked up by pretty much every baseball site on Earth — because what is baseball without plenty of other tangential stuff to talk about. And eventually, it was seen by the legendary Chicago hot dog stand The Wieners Circle, which decided to turn this kid's loss into a victory.

"We've crowdsourced pops via @Twitter," The Wieners Circle tweeted, "and will be providing all you can eat hot dogs for his [hot dog]-less boy and his best buds."

And so it would seem this hot dog tragedy does have a happy ending. Though hopefully someone helps this kid with his hot dog eating technique: As the old saying goes, "Give a child a hot dog and you feed him for a day; teach a child to eat a hot dog and you feed him until the White Sox win the World Series again."
