It took a community donating tape to stick Matthew Davis to a wall at Keystone Kidspace Monday.

After looking for donations of 500 rolls of tape, the children’s experience in York received 672. Davis, Creative in Residence, said that he would let kids tape him to the wall if they received 500 rolls.

Jennifer Tansey, co-founder and board president, said they picked Presidents Day to celebrate community donations because they expected a crowd due to holiday school closings.

“Purchasing small items add up quickly,” Tansey said, adding that the learning and child experience center at 10 East Hamilton Ave. in York is always looking for donations of items such as of scrap wood, glue, Model Magic (modeling clay), batteries, markers, crayons and legos.

As for what it’s like to be taped to a wall for an hour? “It’s stick ... it’s warmer than you would think it would be,” Davis said.

Keystone Kidspace is open to drop off donations from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday noon to 4 p.m.
