Kilgore College Baptist Student Ministry to host marrow donor registration event

Apr. 16—The Kilgore College Baptist Student Ministry will host a bone marrow donor registration event on Tuesday, April 20 to help find a match for a Kilgore mother with Stage 4 Lymphoma and Myelodysplastic Syndrome.

April Hearn learned she had MDS, often termed as pre-leukemia, and could be cured by a blood stem cell or marrow transplant from a matching donor. Hearn has yet to find a match.

The BSM is asking anyone between the ages of 18-44, in good health and willing to donate to anyone in need to stop by from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday at 809 Nolan St. in Kilgore.

Those who are wiling to be a marrow donor can also register by text. Text BIC to 61474, which will bring a link to online registration. Registration is free and easy, completed with a cheek swab kit.
