Killdeer 'Town Crier' event showcases Class B track-stars

May 8—KILLDEER — With seven of 11 area Class B schools descending upon Killdeer last week for the Town Crier Meet, there were plenty of athletes showcasing their skills and getting in those last-few valuable repetitions for the postseason Regional and State meets that are on the near horizon. Dickinson Trinity took top-honors in the girls' meet with 109 points and Killdeer took first for the boys with 120, but numerous competitors stood out for other area teams in the meet.

Sophia Kennedy placed second in the 100m dash for Hettinger-Scranton at 13.34 and Ava Walter was third with a time of 13.6, while Dickinson Trinity took the next three spots with Kate Glaser, Serenity Pavlicek and Bella Kovash all placing in the top-6 at fourth through, sixth, respectively.

On the boys side, Bowman County's Bohden Duffield turned in a second-place 11.58 and his brother Bishop notched a fifth-place for the Bulldogs.

Trinity's Helena Pavek was tops in the 200m dash with a 26.75 while her teammates Pavlicek and Glaser were fourth- and fifth-place respectively in the event, and Walter took second for Heart River at 27.97.

Killdeer's Ethan Hendrickson had another standout performance with a 23.35 in the 200m and his teammates Dayne Dorval and Cayden Neurohr were third and fifth-place respectively — Dorval turning in a 23.89 for the Cowboys.

Dickinson-Trinity kept on a sprinting roll with a first-place 1:01.71 for Pavek in the 400m dash, while Sophie Olsonawski was second with a 1:02.64. Heart River's Holly Stuber earned third and Elly McAvoy and Annabel Scheeler placed fifth and sixth for Trinity.

Not to be outdone for Trinity were Luke Shobe and Izaak Kudrna, who placed first and second with respective times of 51.73 and 52.97 in the 400m, while Matt Huether was third for Hettinger County with a 55.12 in the event and Richardton-Taylor's Marcus Cuevas was fourth in 56.37 seconds. Jake Glaser earned fifth for Trinity and Dean Dumas was sixth for Killdeer in the event.

In the 800m run, Addie Miller won for Killdeer in 2:26.37 and Jaci Fischer was second-place for Bowman County with a 2:27.07 with Killdeer's Abby Hardersen taking third with a 2:29.7. Jazlyn Ottmar was fourth for Hettinger County in the event with a 2:30.66.

For the boys, Jonah Njos was first-place in the 800 with a 2:03.52 and Trinity's Jace Cofer took second with a 2:05.14. Hettinger-Scranton took fourth and fifth through the efforts of Blake Larson and Trevor Dalley, while Killdeer's Jekori Dahlen rounded out the top-6.

Hettinger County's Ruby Nasset has been on a tear in the 1600m run and she again turned in a first-place finish with a 5:32.01. Meanwhile, Bowman County's Kenley Bowman was second in the event with a 5:33.51 showing and her teammates Jaci Fischer and Julie Sarsland took third- and fourth-places with 5:43.19 and 6:03.33, respectively. Kayla Schauer was fifth for Hettinger-Scranton and Carly Wolf took sixth for Hettinger County.

Dickinson Trinity was again unstoppable in the 1600m for the boys with Cofer winning in 4:37.88, Eli Hansen finishing second with a 4:38.97 and Max Lefor taking third in 4:54.87. MeanwhileJustin Kathrein was fourth for Hettinger County, Dahlen was fifth for Killdeer and Eli Hoerath earned sixth for Hettinger County.

In the 3200m run, Bowman County's Alexia Reisenauer took second with a 15:51.98 for the girls team, the only area placer.

The 110m hurdles saw top-3 victories for Killdeer with a 16.81 for Isaac Jaggi, 19.58 for Grayson Fettig and 20.58 for Tucker Bohmbach. For the girls, AllieRae Stotts earned second for Bowman County with a 17.3 in the event and Trinity's Nevaeh Muckle was third with a 18.44, while Juliet Redka was fifth for Richardton-Taylor and Emersyn Hlebechuk took sixth for Bowman County.

Muckle also took second in the 300m hurdles with a 52.72 and Gracia Jorgenson and Sam Salazar were third and fourth for Hettinger-Scranton with times of 56.07 and 56.75, respectively. Bowman County's Tylee Hinek and Autumn Arndt of Killdeer rounded out the top-6. On the boys side, Bennett Jorgenson was the winner for Hettinger-Scranton at 43.53 and Killdeer's Jaggi was second with a time of 44.29, while Hettinger County's Mark Fitterer was fifth and Fettig was sixth for Killdeer in the event.

The 4x100m relay team of Pavlicek, Anna Clifton, Kate Glaser and Pavek took first for Dickinson Trinity with a 52.04 and hettinger-Scranton took second with a 53.12 for the girls side. Bowman and Hettinger counties took fifth and sixth in the event. For the boys, the winning team of Gus Bohmbach, Hendrickson, Neurohr and Dorval won the event with a 44.18, while Bowman County took second with a 46-second time and Hettinger County finished fifth.

The 4x200m team from Hettinger-Scranton of Jorgenson, Ella Jensen, Kennedy and Sienna Burwick took first with a 1:54.43 and Hettinger County finished third in 1:55.65 and Heart River was fourth with 1:56.14. Bowman County rounded out the top-6 in sixth-place. For the boys, the team of Tucker Bohmbach, Neurohr, Dorval and Hendrickson were first in the event with a 1:34.35, and Bowman County's team of the Duffields, Nathan Dix and Roman Fossum were a split-second-place behind with a 1:34.5.

The 4x400m team of Gage Glaser, Kudrna, Luke Shobe and Lefor earned a first-place 3:34.12 while Hettinger County and Killdeer took second and third places with times of 3:40 and 3:54. For the girls side, Killdeer took first with a team of Addie Miller, Mickellyn Walker, Taylee Andersen and Abby Hardersen at 4:24.5, while Hettinger County finished with a second-place 4:25.79.

Killdeer won the 4x800m for the girls with the same team as the 4x400m in 10:10.08, while Dickinson Trinity finished with a second-place 10:38.66 and Hettinger County's 4x800m team of Justin Kathrein, Matt Heuther, Brock Ellis and Hoerath earned first for the boys with an 8:54.76. Richardton-Taylor took second with a 9:21.31 and Killdeer finished in fourth with a 9:38.4 in the event.

For the field events, Eastyn Gebhardt was first in the shot-put for Richardton-Taylor with a 34'8" mark and Havyn Quintanilla was third for Bowman County with a 30'3" throw. Vanessa Oase tied for fourth for Hettinger County at 30'1". For the boys shot-put, Richardton-Taylor's Kane Rivinius was fourth-place with a 43'2" toss and Mace Stuber finished sixth for Bowman County.

In the discus, Gracie Doe finished second for Killdeer with a 110'8" throw and Trinity's Katherine Schneider was third with a 103'5" mark and her teammates Grace Veverka and McKenna Ernst finished fifth and sixth. For the boys, Stuber was first with a 135'1" throw and Trinity's Tanner Roers threw a fourth-place 132'4". Blake Larson was sixth for Hettinger-Scranton.

Hettinger County's Samantha Greff was second in the javelin at 107'4", while Richardton-Taylor were fifth and sixth through Evelyn Kuntz and Gebhardt, and for the boys Hettinger County's Cole Manolovits earned first with a 136'1" throw and Heart River's Jayden Bailey was second with a 131'4" and Bowman County's Stuber finished fifth and Hettinger-Scranton's Blake Larson finished sixth.

Madeline Lambert was first for Killdeer in the high-jump with a 5' leap and Nasset took second for Hettinger County with a 4'10" to tie with Killdeer's Brooke Baselt. For the boys, Hendrickson was second for Killdeer in the high-jump at 5'8".

In the pole-vault, Anna Clifton finished in first for Trinity with a 10' mark, while Sarsland was tied for second at 9' for Bowman County with Killdeer's Josey Andersen. Danielle Dobitz was in at fourth for Killdeer with an 8'6" and her teammate Gus Bohmbach was first with a 12' mark in a tie with Trinity's Gage Glaser and Michael Cattoor, also of Killdeer.

In the long-jump, Bowman County's Ellie Powell turned in another solid performance with a first-place 15'11" leap and Heart River's Abby Talkington was second close-behind with a 15'9" mark. Sophie Johnson was fourth for Hettinger County and Avrie Nohava was sixth for Bowman County. On the boys side, Manolovits was second for Hettinger County in the event with a 20'7" mark and Jorgenson was sixth for Hettinger-Scranton.

In the triple-jump, Nasset nailed down another blue ribbon with a mark of 34'5" for Hettinger County and Talkington was second with a 34'1" for Heart River. Nohava was third with a 32'10.5" leap for BCHS while Jaycia Thomas was fourth in the event for Hettinger County and Powell rounded out the top-6. On the boys side, Manolovits was second in the triple-jump with a 40'4" mark and Bohden Duffield finished in third with a 40'3.5" leap for Bowman County and Noah Madler turned in a sixth-place for Hettinger County.
