The killer stalking France's horse farms
French security forces patrol fields in France,
A reassuring presence for locals like Jean Francois-Decayeux, who continue to live in fear over the unexplained wave of horse killings and mutilations.
He manages an equestrian center himself.
He tours the property every morning, listening for unusual vehicles.
"Of course, we brought in all the horses which were in fields away from the equestrian center. So, all the horses have been inside since last week."
The brutal attacks - where horses have had their eyes gouged out and ears cut-off - have happened across the country. Police haven't said who or why. 150 investigations have been opened.
Authorities are visiting farms and riding centers to check on security arrangements and give advice.
At another riding centre in northern France, its owner Rebecca Pavy has fitted new surveillance cameras.
She had one blunt message for police.
"Just the fact of seeing you here is important. So in any case thank you. Catch them, catch them." GENDARME: "That's what we're here for, we'll do the best we can."
