Killingly's Baribeau leads The Bulletin's boys basketball all-star team

The Bulletin is proud to present its 2022-2023 Boys Basketball All Star Team. The honored players were consistently on our daily top performers lists during the regular season. The players were selected from Norwich Free Academy, Norwich Tech, Griswold, Plainfield, Killingly and Ellis Tech.

The Bulletin would like to thank all of the coaches, assistant coaches and athletic directors who faithfully reported team results and top performers to The Bulletin all season.

This year’s team is led by Killingly senior Yianni Baribeau, our Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

Player of the Year - Yianni Baribeau, Killingly

Yianni Baribeau capped his outstanding career by becoming the first Killingly player to score over 1,000 career points and grab over 1,000 career rebounds. The senior forward led Killingly to a runner-up finish in the ECC Division II tournament. Killingly also reached the state tournament quarterfinals for the first time in nearly two decades.

Baribeau is continuing his career at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts.

All Stars

Camron Barboza, junior, Norwich Free Academy: Wildcats forward emerged as a consistent defender and rebounder.

Armanee Davis, junior, Norwich Free Academy: An ECC honorable mention pick, Davis was part of the Wildcats formidable backcourt

Thomas Dreibholz, senior, Killingly: Killingly forward solidified the frontcourt with a scoring touch and terrific rebounding.

Caleb Evans, senior, Ellis Tech: Golden Eagles captain capped an outstanding career as a leading scorer and rebounder.

Josh Hanks, senior, Norwich Tech: Warriors guard made the team go and was one of the top shooters in the Connecticut Technical Conference.

Johnny Kazantzis, sophomore, Killingly: An ECC honorable mention pick, Kazantzis emerged as one of the top guards in the conference.

Evan Merchant, senior, Griswold: An ECC honorable mention pick, Merchant helped the Wolverines win the ECC Division III title and first ECC tournament championship. A terrific outside shooter and defender.

Christian Russell, senior, Griswold: An All-ECC selection, Russell was named the ECC Division II tournament’s most outstanding player. Terrific outside shooter.

Bradley Saint Louis, senior, Norwich Tech: Warriors forward was one of the top all around players in the Connecticut Technical Conference.

Lucas Strain, senior, Griswold: An ECC honorable mention pick, Strain helped the Wolverines win the ECC Division III title and first ECC tournament championship. A terrific point guard and defender.

Jeff Souvenance, senior, Griswold: An All-ECC selection, Souvenance helped the Wolverines win the ECC Division III title and first ECC tournament championship. Undersized center emerged as one of the top players in the conference.

Tony Williams, junior, Norwich Free Academy: An All-ECC selection, Williams had an outstanding season as the team’s leading scorer and facilitator. One of the top guards in the state.
