Kilpatrick woman arrested after 2 Florida runaways found

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A Kilpatrick woman was arrested for interfering with custody on Tuesday after two runaways were found in the area, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in Fort Meyers, Florida, contacted investigators at DCSO about two runaway minor girls, the sheriff’s office said.

LCSO told them they had gotten information that the runaways were possibly at an address in Kilpatrick.

Deputies and investigators went to the address, where they did find the girls. The Alabama Department of Human Resources was contacted and the kids were turned over to juvenile authorities. They will be returned to Florida.

During the investigation, 41-year-old Aura Sanchez-Lopez was arrested and charged with two counts of interference with custody and two counts of obstructing government operations.

The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate. More charges are possible.
