Kim Kardashian West Puts a Directional Twist on Political Hair

Kim Kardashian West visited the White House yesterday to talk about second chance hiring, her sleek bob offering a bit of strategic styling.

Kim Kardashian West is no stranger to transformative beauty—the mogul has had hair in nearly every shade, texture, and length imaginable, save for her mother's trademark pixie—but for yesterday's White House visit, the styling seemed particularly strategic. KKW attended an event focusing on prisoner reentry and second chance hiring, her raven lengths skimming her shoulders in a sleek chop reminiscent of past powerhouse coiffures.

A contrast to the rumpled, wet-look waves worn on Vogue's May cover and on the Met Gala red carpet, West made her latest take on a polished lob all her own with a clean center part and swooping ends. Coupled with her signature makeup palette (think nudes and sky-reaching lashes) West's entire presence demanded attention—a winning approach, as the issues of the day were critical to society. Speaking of prisoners who have served out their sentences, West insisted: "These people want to work. They want the best outcome. And I'm so happy to be here today amongst people who want the same thing, and really believe in supporting reentry." Considering that KKW has developed a passion for prison reform and is in the midst of a four-year law apprenticeship with the goal of taking the bar in 2022, this may be the beginning of a whole new beauty journey.
