Kimberly Guilfoyle: Trump hires ex-Fox News host and son’s girlfriend to serve on 2020 campaign

Donald Trump has hired his son’s girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle, to officially serve on his 2020 re-election campaign.

The former Fox News host will act as a senior adviser for the campaign after joining Donald Trump Jr in his travels across the country during the 2018 midterm elections.

She previously worked at the pro-Trump super PAC America First Action as vice chairwoman shortly after leaving the network in July 2018.

"President Trump has a clear record of accomplishments and promises kept as he continues to Make America Great Again," Brad Parscale, the president’s campaign manager, said in a statement Monday confirming a slate of new hires to the team.

"These exceptional additions to the re-election effort will help us take our case to the voters and ensure victory,” he added.

The president’s children and their spouses have become intrinsically intertwined with his campaign and presidency.

His daughter, Ivanka Trump, serves as a senior adviser in the White House, along with her husband, Jared Kushner. While she spearheads several efforts surrounding women’s issues, Mr Kushner has been tasked with restoring peace in the Middle East and overhauling the nation’s criminal justice system, though it remains unclear how he plans to address either issue.

Eric Trump oversees the Trump Organisation as a trustee and executive vice president, while his wife, Lara Trump, serves as the face of his father’s 2020 re-election campaign.

Mr Trump Jr continues to remain a force along the campaign trail and on social media for his father’s campaign, sharing messages — sometimes with misleading or outright false facts — of support for the Trump presidency.

Along with Ms Guilfoyle joining the campaign are Marty Obst, who will serve as a senior strategist for vice presidential operations, Nathan Groth as in-house counsel, Hannah Castillo as director of coalitions and Samantha Menh as director of vice presidential operations.
