Netflix has released the first trailer for its forthcoming drama The King, starring Timothée Chalamet as Henry V.

The Call Me by Your Name actor plays the reluctant monarch in a new movie from Animal Kingdom director David Michôd, which also stars Joel Edgerton as the king’s closest friend and mentor, the ageing alcoholic knight John Falstaff.

It will follow Henry V’s transformation from wayward Prince Hal to a British monarch who is forced to embrace the life he had previously tried to escape. In the movie, the young king will be seen navigating the “palace politics, chaos and war his father left behind”.

In the trailer above, Chalamet’s King can be seen struggling to adjust to his new life, admitting: “Already I can feel the weight of this crown I wear. I’ve been forced to rely upon the counsel of men whose loyalty I question every waking moment.”

Sean Harris, Ben Mendelsohn, Robert Pattinson, and Lily-Rose Depp also star in the film, which will be released on Netflix in Autumn 2019.
