Basketball wives don’t always become NBA fan favorites, but Recee Fox has achieved that status in Sacramento.

The wife of point guard De’Aaron Fox is a regular at Kings games, sitting courtside with their baby, Reign, and she is active on social media, often interacting with Kings fans.

Recee Fox expressed her appreciation for her husband’s co-star after Domantas Sabonis recorded a triple-double in a 143-131 victory over the Washington Wizards on Monday at Golden 1 Center.

Sabonis finished with 28 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists with a team-best plus-25 net rating. He has three triple doubles and 21 double-doubles as the Kings (16-9) prepare to face the Boston Celtics (20-6) on Wednesday.

“Although Sabby does this on a nightly basis I hope we never take it for granted,” Recee Fox tweeted. “I know national media doesn’t get it but we can continue to recognize he’s special.”

Kings coach Mike Brown liked what he heard when he was informed of Recee Fox’s remarks, saying it reflects the culture of togetherness the Kings have created in Sacramento.

“This group is connected,” Brown said. “Everybody wants everybody to have success. When you see stuff like that and you hear stuff like that, it’s awesome because that is not something that you hear a lot or see a lot around the NBA because of the money or the prestige of being this or that, the accolades and the whole nine yards, but for somebody of Recee’s level and caliber to be able to say that publicly and mean it, to me it’s no surprise. It just speaks volumes of who she is as a person, who (De’Aaron) Fox is and what they believe in this team, and how connected we are as a group.”

De’Aaron Fox and Sabonis have flourished together since Kings general manager Monte McNair made the trade that sent Tyrese Haliburton to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Sabonis. Both were chosen to participate in the All-Star Game last season and both were named All-NBA Third Team selections for the first time in their respective careers.

Fox is in the third year of a five-year, $163 million contract with an opportunity to negotiate another long-term extension this summer. Last summer, Sabonis agreed to a five-year, $217 million extension, so this partnership could last for years to come.

Fox joined his wife in singing Sabonis’ praises following the win over the Wizards.

“Everything he does for us, just being able to grab a rebound, push it, or sometimes we grab rebounds and we’re able to outlet to him,” Fox said. “There aren’t many people who are able to do that at his size.”
