Kings County child welfare worker arrested after ‘obscene matter’ found in Hanford, police say

HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 33-year-old man from Hanford was arrested in January on suspicion of possessing obscene matter of a minor in a sexual act, according to the Hanford Police Department.

The Hanford Police Department also confirmed that the suspect, 33-year-old Alejandro Sanabria, was a Kings County employee working with Child Welfare Services, as part of his duties with Kings County’s Human Services Agency.

Officers say on Jan. 31, detectives executed a search warrant on a home in the 1500 block of Sprincrest Street for evidence related to the possession of obscene matter of a minor in a sexual act.

According to police, the action was in response to a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Police say Sanabria was arrested as part of the investigation and was booked into the Kings County Jail with a bail set at $20,000.

in a statement, Kings County officials say Sanabria was placed on administrative leave from Kings County’s Human Services Agency (HSA) immediately after learning of his arrest.

In addition, Kings County has launched its own internal investigation as the individual was employed in technology support for HSA. In this role, the individual had access to all HSA programs, including child welfare data systems. It is important to note that the individual does not work in child welfare services.
