Kings Highway traffic to feel impact of water line work; what to know about getting around

Here's what you need to know about posted road work and traffic delays in South Jersey as of August 17:

PSE&G work disrupts commutes in Burlington County

A PSE&G project in Burlington City to replace cast iron gas pipes is in progress since January, with work during the 7 a.m.-5 p.m. period on weekdays and at times Saturdays.

Currently affected are portions of Lansberry Drive, Langdon Road, Lagorce Bloulevard, Lamont Road, Laclede Drive, Laurie Road, Langrock Way, Lancaster Drive, LaSalle Drive, Latimer Court, Latimer Way, Lansdowne Road, Larkin Road, Gilbert Street, Laveer Road, Lansbury Road, Larchmont Drive, Latimer Court, Langdon Road, Neck Road, Laramoor Road, and Lambeth Road.

A PSE&G project to replace cast iron gas pipes in Cinnaminson is active at points on Church Road near U.S. 130 and on Fork Landing Road near Pine Street and Woodview Lane in the 7 a.m.-5 p.m. period on weekdays and at times Saturdays.

In Delran, PSE&G is continuing a cast iron gas pipe replacement program on Stewart Avenue, between River Drive and St. Mihiel Drive. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights.

In Medford and Medford Lakes, Burlington County is resurfacing a 3.6-mile section of Tuckerton Road (county Route 620) as of August 10. Completion is expected to take three weeks. Traffic will be maintained between Heath Road and county Route 541, but motorists can expect delays and are advised to seek alternative routes. Earle Asphalt Co. of Farmingdale is the contractor.

A PSE&G project to replace cast iron gas pipes in Mount Holly is in progress on Jacksonville Road, between Broad and Ridgeway streets, and on Ridgeway and Broad streets, between Jacksonville Road and Mount Holly Avenue. Work takes place during the 7 a.m.-5 p.m. period on weekdays and at times Saturdays.

In Willingboro, gas pipe replacement is in progress on Wharf and Front streets, Lake Drive and Buckingham drives, and Bradford and Babbit lanes.

Water line work in Camden County affects Kings Highway

New Jersey American Water is engaged in a long-term main replacement along West Kings Highway from West Atlantic Avenue to Hillside Avenue. The project affects Audubon and Haddon Heights. Full road restoration is expected in summer 2024.

In Audubon, water main replacement work will take place on Wyoming Avenue from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday with the road closed between Nicholson Road and Merchant Street. From Monday, August 21 through Friday, August 25, NJ American Water will be working on Wyoming Avenue and Nicholson Road. There will be full road closure of Wyoming Avenue between Nicholson Road and Merchant Street, and a full road closure of Nicholson Road between Cedarcroft and Oswego avenues.

In Cherry Hill, A PSE&G long-term project to replace cast iron gas pipes is active on many streets here during the 7 a.m.-5 p.m. period on weekdays and at times Saturdays.

Currently affected are Orlando Road, Edgemoor Road, Russell Terrace; Abington Road, Abington Terrace, Kingston Drive, East Tampa Avenue, PRW 2 (at Marlton Pike), Greenbriar Road, Tarlton Court, York Road, Cooperskill Road, Dickens Court, Wayland Road, Westover Drive, Redstone Rdg., Pelham Road, Pelham Court, Sawmill Road, Sharrowvale Road, Timothy Court, Sawmill Court, Fullwood Road, Fox Chase Lane, Pine Valley Road, Teaberry Drive, Oxford Avenue, Antietam Road, Paddock Way, Whitemarsh Way, Dorado Drive, Forge Road, Aqua Lane, Shelly Lane, Burning Tree Road, St. Johns Drive, Black Baron Drive, Sherry Way, Tarrington Road, Tarrington Court, Covered Bridge Court, Barclay Lane, West Gate Drive, Rydale Road, Chelton Parkway, Williams Avenue, Willow Way, White Oak Road, Wyndmoor Road, Sherry Way, Holly Glen Drive, Charleston Road, White Oak Court, Barcroft Road, Bentwood Drive, Heritage Road, Heritage Court, Horse Shoe Court, Gravel Bend, Hapenny Drive, Fern Avenue, Randle Court, and Granville Drive.

Also in Cherry Hill, pipe replacement on 3rd Avenue is expected to keep the avenue closed between Walt Whitman Boulevard and Carolina Avenue until on or about the week of August 21, weather pending.

A PSE&G project to replace cast iron gas pipes is active on Collings Avenue in Collingswood during the 7 a.m.-5 p.m. period on weekdays and at times Saturdays.

In Gloucester City, PSE&G is replacing gas pipes on Cumberland Street near Railroad Avenue and South Filmore Street from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and possibly Saturdays.

New Jersey American Water will be paving Station Avenue in Gloucester Township on Monday, August 21 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. There will be a full closure between Huntington Avenue and Main Street.

In Haddon Township, PSE&G is working on Reeves, Chestnut, Westmont, and Collings avenues from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and possibly Saturdays.

In Haddonfield and Haddon Township, PSE&G continues a gas main installation on Haddon Avenue through Thursday, August 17. Hours are 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The road will close at the Reeves Avenue intersection.

Also in Haddonfield, PSE&G is replacing gas services at 326 Station Avenue on Thursday, Aug. 17 and Friday, Aug. 18 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. There will be a full road closure between South Hinchman Avenue and Chews Landing Road.

In Merchantville, PSE&G will work on West Maple Avenue and Browning Road through Friday, August 25 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. There will be a full road closure between Linden and Euclid avenues Friday. There will be a full closure of West Maple Avenue between Clinton and West End avenues starting Monday, August 21.

In Pennsauken, PSE&G is milling and paving work, weather permitting, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m on a number of roads. They are: Boyd Street, between the Pennsauken border and Rosemont Avenue; Rosemount near Marlton Pike; Earl Avenue, between Rosemont and Lee avenues; Lee Avenue, between Marlton Pike and Earl Avenue; Harris Avenue, near Lee Avenue; Willgoos Avenue, between Harris and Earl Avenues; Earl Avenue, between Willgoos and Highland avenues; and Highland Avenue, between Marlton Pike and Earl Avenue.

Also in Pennsauken, gas pipe replacement is in progress on Federal Street, between North 39th and North 42nd streets; Browning Road, between Chestnut Avenue and Whitman Terrace; and North 42nd Street, near Maple Avenue.

Gas main replacement is scheduled along Jackson Road in Waterford Township through Tuesday, Oct. 31. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The project begins at Jackson Road and Route 73, moving towards Burlington County. Lane shifts and detours will be utilized.

Gloucester County redoing Clems Run Road in 2 townships

Gloucester County has hired South State Inc. for road milling and paving on Clems Run Road (County Route 623) between Harding-Richwood Road (County Route 623) and Mullica Hill Road (U.S. 322) in Elk and Harrison townships. Work starts on or about Sept. 18 and will require alternating traffic or a daytime detour. The road will reopen at the end of each day to through traffic. Residents will access their driveways from at least one side of the work zone. Daytime closures will occur between 7 am and 5 pm.

Culvert work reroutes traffic in Cumberland County

In Bridgeton, traffic is on a long-term rerouting around part of one-way South Avenue due to a culvert reconstruction project. Grove Street is operating as a two-way route to Baltimore Avenue.
