The Foothills Farmers Market has opened a new satellite location in Kings Mountain.

Scout Denning, Kings Mountain market manager, said the new market, located on South Battleground Avenue, is under the same funding as the Foothills Farmers Market. Denning said it is the second attempt at a Kings Mountain market but in a new location.

“We hope to extend the market as customer foot traffic, and vendors availability grows, and to make it an annual event,” she said. “Vendors are excited to be able to connect with their community directly. They're dedicated small business owners who care about the livelihood of their customers. We really want food, health, and community to be central to the Kings Mountain Farmers' Market. It's been slow but steady so far, and we're committed to creating a consistency that draws in regular customers.”

Here are four things to know:

  • The market runs every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon through the month of August at the former Wells Fargo location at 125 S. Battleground Ave.

  • The health department market is no longer hosted, but there is a Wednesday market at the Foothills pavilion.

  • There is currently  a rotation of 40 vendors with around 15-20 in attendance on any given Saturday.

  • Vendor offerings include a wide variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, sustainable proteins (eg. grass fed beef, local pork and lamb), mushrooms, microgreens, honey, and cut flowers. There are also craft vendors with candles and soaps, textiles and wood carving. The market is open to more vendors as they refine their market. The Kings Mountain market is also booking live musicians and hosting food trucks.
