De’Aaron Fox and Trae Young will go head-to-head when the Kings visit the Atlanta Hawks on the second leg of a three-game road trip Friday at State Farm Arena.

Fox and Young both rank among the top 10 in the NBA in scoring, but the Kings are on the rise in the Western Conference while the Hawks have taken a step back since reaching the Eastern Conference finals in 2021.

The Kings (17-12) had no injuries to report Thursday. The Hawks (12-18) have ruled out starting small forward De’Andre Hunter due to right knee inflammation along with Mouhamed Gueye (back) and Seth Lundy (ankle).

Hunter is averaging 14.9 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 46% from the field and 40.4% from 3-point range. He was expected to be reevaluated in two weeks after undergoing a nonsurgical procedure on the knee Tuesday.

Scouting Sacramento

The Kings opened this road trip with a disappointing 130-113 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. They have fallen to fifth in the West after losing three of their last four by an average of 18.0 points per game.

Fox is averaging 30.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.6 steals. He is fifth in the NBA in scoring, trailing only Joel Embiid, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Domantas Sabonis averages 19.4 points, 12.1 rebounds and 7.4 assists. Keegan Murray (15.8 ppg), Malik Monk (14.0 ppg), Harrison Barnes (11.7 ppg) and Kevin Huerter (10.6 ppg) are also scoring in double figures for Sacramento.

Scouting Atlanta

The Hawks are coming off a 118-113 loss to the Chicago Bulls. They have lost three in a row to fall into a tie for 11th in the East.

Young is averaging 28.1 points, 11.3 assists and 1.3 steals He is seventh in the NBA in scoring.

Dejounte Murray is averaging 20.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.6 steals. Former Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovich averages 17.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals. Hunter, Jalen Johnson (13.9 ppg), Saddiq Bey (12.9 ppg) and Clint Capela (12.0 ppg, 10.5 rpg) are also scoring in double figures.
