Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) announced on Wednesday that his wife, Sofia Boza-Holman, gave birth to a baby boy.

"Thrilled to introduce Christian Adam Kinzinger to the world! Mom and baby are doing great, and Dad is over the moon!" Kinzinger tweeted on Wednesday, including two photos of him, Boza-Holman and their new child.

The Illinois Republican is one of two GOP lawmakers to sit on the House select committee investigating the events of the insurrection at the Capitol that took place on Jan. 6, 2021.

Kinzinger, who announced he would not be running for reelection, was noticeably absent during the Capitol's commemorative events of the one-year anniversary of the attack earlier this month. He said over social media that he wished he could be in attendance but was "on baby watch."

"Wish I could be there too, but I'm on baby watch. I am in spirit," Kinzinger said on Twitter, quote-tweeting a reporter who remarked that Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) and her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, were the only Republicans in the House chamber for the moment of silence on the anniversary.

The Illinois Republican has been a vocal critic of former President Trump and was among 10 House Republicans to vote to impeach the former president following the Jan. 6 insurrection.

"There is no doubt in my mind that the President of the United States broke his oath of office and incited this insurrection. He used his position in the Executive to attack the Legislative," he said in a statement prior to his impeachment vote.

Trump touted Kinzinger's retirement last October after the House Republican made his announcement, saying in a statement through his Save America PAC, "2 down, 8 to go!"
