Kips Bay Decorator Show House Opens Next Week

Arguably the biggest show house of the year, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House will open its doors next week. Located at 36-38 East 74th Street, the mansion hosting the event has been overhauled by 23 of the best interior designer talents in the industry. Tickets are available online, and all proceeds go to supporting the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club.

Ira Neimark Passes Away

Ira Neimark passed away late last week at the age of 97. The longtime chairman and CEO of Bergdorf Goodman, Neimark was heavily involved in expanding the New York flagship, particularly to include the home and decoration section of the luxury department store.

Design Brands Offer Big Sales

Designers can find two big sales going on next week. Modern furniture retailer Moroso will be unveiling its sample sale for the season from Wednesday to Sunday at 146 Greene Street, where visitors will be able to find furniture for up to 85% off.

John Derian will also be hosting his annual sale from May 9 to 11 across his stores at 8 East 2nd Street. Shoppers will be able to get up to 60% off decoupage pieces, and 50% off other decor available.

Grace’s House Opens to the Public

Now open in Plainfield, New Jersey, a mansion steeped in history has been reimagined by a group of top-tier designers to support the Valerie Fund, which helps raise awareness for children’s illnesses. The show house is now open to the public. Designers’ rooms on display include Tina Ramchandani’s designed parlour to Gail Davis’s laundry room and Donna Infantolino’s his-and-hers dressing rooms.

DWR to Open on the UWS

Modern furniture retailer Design Within Reach will be unveiling its latest studio on the Upper West Side. On May 2, the doors will open with an opening launch party at 2162 Broadway, at 76nd Street. Miya Takama will also hold a floral workshop from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and light bites will be served.
