Kit Harington has shut down rumours that he could appear in the planned Blade movie, while also addressing his Marvel future.

The actor made his MCU debut in 2021's Eternals as Dane Whitman, with a post-credits scene teasing his transformation into Black Knight as the voice of Mahershala Ali's Blade questions whether he is ready.

Despite the apparent link, Harington denied involvement in Blade during an appearance at Superhero Comic-Con.

"The honest answer is I think that’s the intention with the character," he replied when asked whether he is Black Knight. "I think there was some misunderstanding about whether he was going to be in the Blade movie. He was never meant to be in the Blade movie and isn’t."

Speaking further about his Marvel future, Harington admitted that "at this stage, [he doesn't] know" and hopes "he gets used".

"I think there’s some really fascinating parts of that character which would be beneficial to delve into and interesting, which is the aspects around his mental health things and specifically about addiction with that character, which I think is really interesting," the star continued.

"So I hope they use him. I hope that the Black Knight comes along. I hope that Dane Whitman is that character but, at this stage, I can’t tell you anything. But I think the intention is to develop him at some point."

Fans will have to wait a while to see Blade, as it was recently revealed that the movie had been temporarily shelved amid the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike.

Ali is set to star as the titular vampire hunter, while True Detective's Nic Pizzolatto is on writing duties.
