Kiwanis Club of Chardon awards scholarships

Jul. 21—The Kiwanis Club of Chardon has announced the awarding of our 2022 scholarships, according to a release from the group.

The scholarships that Kiwanis Club of Chardon awards each year are made possible through various activities, which include the sale of maple syrup products all year, a corn roast in September, and various other events.

This year's scholarships were awarded during the annual Kiwanis scholarship cookout on July 8 at Big Creek Park.

The scholarship recipients, all class of 2022 graduates from Chardon High School, were Grace Fisak and Zoran Vujaklija, who each received a Chardon Kiwanis scholarship, and Charlotte Bennet,t who was awarded the Bob Moses scholarship.

Bob Moses was a longtime member and past president of the Chardon Kiwanis.

The Kiwanis members and guests enjoyed grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, brats as well as several dishes including baked beans, macaroni salad and chips, and cake for dessert along with visiting with the college-bound students, the release stated.

The Kiwanis strongly believes that even one person can help their community through volunteering. Each recipient of this year's scholarships is involved in our community through the participation in extracurricular activities and volunteering.

"Being able to award scholarships is one of the most rewarding experiences of being a member of the Kiwanis Club of Chardon," said chairperson of the Scholarship Committee Jim Rayl. "The Kiwanis Club of Chardon wishes each student success in their future educational endeavors."
