Coach Jürgen Klinsmann led South Korea to the Asian Cup last 16 despite a 3-3 draw with Malaysia in the final round of group stage matches on Thursday.

South Korea were already sure of their place in the knockout stages before kick-off and now go through to the round of 16 as group runners-up, while Bahrain won the group.

They will now face the winners of Group F, who will either be Saudi Arabia or Thailand.

In a thrilling encounter, Woo-yeong Jeong put South Korea in front, before the Malaysia turned the game around after the break courtesy of goals from Faisal Halim and Arif Aiman.

The South Koreans responded in the closing stages with an own goal by goalkeeper Syihan Hazmi and a penalty from Heung-min Son, but Malaysia had the final word in the form of substitute Romel Morales.
