The Lakers occupy the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference are are currently in line to participate in the NBA’s new play-in tournament, while the Knicks are trying to hold off the Hawks and Heat in the Eastern Conference standings. Tuesday’s game is crucial for both teams, and should feel like a playoff game.

Advice and prediction

LeBron James’ status is still unclear for Tuesday’s game, but he is expected to return to Los Angeles’ lineup against either the Knicks or the Rockets on Wednesday. In James’ absence, Anthony Davis has been rounding into playoff form of late, and has gone off for 36 and 42 points in his last two starts.

The Lakers are the best under team in the league, with unders cashing in 41 of 68 games so far this season, while the under has cashed in 37 of 68 Knicks games. With so much on the line for both teams, Tuesday’s game should be intense and low-scoring. The Knicks just took down the Clippers 106-100 on Sunday at the Staples Center, and I’m expecting to see a similar scoreline here. Take the under 213.5 and enjoy the defense.

Prediction: Lakers 104, Knicks 97
