The Iowa State Fair returns in 2022 with its full roster of Grandstand acts, farm animals, foods on a stick, a butter cow, and family fun. The Iowa State Fair combines an agricultural and industrial showcase with big-name entertainers and more than 600 vendors selling food and beverage at the biggest event held in the state.

This year, the Grandstand features artists from Kane Brown to Carrie Underwood and more chart-topping artists. Here's a look at the concert lineup coming to the State Fair, and where you can go to get tickets to see your favorite show on the roster.

How do I buy Iowa State Fair concert tickets?

As concerts are announced for the Iowa State Fair, they go on sale online at Tickets can also be purchased by calling 1-800-514-3849 or by visiting the the Iowa State Fair ticket office located on the front porch of the Administration Building on the Fairgrounds.

Who's preforming at the Iowa State Fair Grandstand in 2022?


When: 8 p.m. Aug. 11

Tickets: $30 to $55

The Iowa State Fair kicks off on Aug. 11 with Christian alternative band Skillet performing on the Grandstand. This marks the first time the quartet that combines metal with worship music plays the State Fair.

Some of the Memphis-based band’s biggest hits include “Monster,” “Feel Invincible,” and “Hero.” During the pandemic, the band collaborated over Zoom to produce “Victorious: The Aftermath,” the deluxe edition album and released new music, including "Refuge" in December 2021 and title track "Dominion" on Jan. 7.

Christian worship singer Dante Bowe opens the show.

Brooks & Dunn

When: 8 p.m. Aug. 12

Ticket prices: $47 to $92

The country combination of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn grace the Iowa State Fair's Grandstand stage for the 10th time this summer at 8 p.m. on Aug. 12. The 2019 inductees to the Country Music Hall of Fame have a long history of performing at the State Fair, appearing nines times from 1992 to 2009.

Their catalog of 23 chart-topping hits includes "Boot Scootin' Boogie," "Believe," "My Maria," "Play Something Country," "Only In America," "Cowgirls Don't Cry" and "My Next Broken Heart."

Up-and-coming country artist Alex Miller, who appeared in the 19th season of "American Idol," opens for the duo.

Tickets: $30 to $55

Hip-hop star Nelly takes over the Grandstand at the Iowa State Fair this August.

The singer, who grew up in St. Louis, headlines a show bringing his hits such as "Hot In Herre," “Dilemma” and "Just A Dream"  at 8 p.m. on Aug. 13.

The hip-hop artist's debut album "Country Grammar" remains one of the best-selling releases in the genre.

R&B singer Ginuwine opens.

Demi Lovato

Tickets: $35 to $65

Pop star Demi Lovato, who became a household name as a teen star on Disney Channel in movies like "Camp Rock" and shows such as "Sonny with a Chance," will make their Grandstand appearance at the Iowa State Fair at 8 p.m. on Aug. 14.

"Give Your Heart a Break" and "Sorry Not Sorry" are among their biggest hits, and even as their focus moved to musical performance, however, Lovato has also continued to act on occasion, appearing on TV shows including "Will & Grace" and "Smurfs: The Lost Village."

Alanis Morissette

When: 8 p.m. Aug. 15

Tickets: $45 to $95

The emotive post-grunge rock of Alanis Morissette takes over the Iowa State Fair Grandstand this summer.

Her 1995 debut album “Jagged Little Pill” sparked the seven-time Grammy Award-winner’s career when “You Oughta Know” hit the airwaves with its girl empowerment vibe and explicit lyrics.

Morissette takes the stage on Aug. 15 at 8 p.m., celebrating the 25th anniversary of “Jagged Little Pill.”

ZZ Top and Ann Wilson

When: 8 p.m. Aug. 16

Tickets: $40 to $60

Beer drinkers and hell raisers rejoice and be ready to give the latest Iowa State Fair Grandstand act all your lovin' as the classic rock band ZZ Top comes to town.

The stop will be part of the group's recently announced Raw Whisky Tour, which kicks off in May. ZZ Top takes the Grandstand stage in Des Moines at 8 p.m. on Aug. 16, the tail end of the announced dates on this latest tour.

The trio from Houston rose to prominence in the ’70s and has since produced blues-infused songs such as “La Grange," "Legs," "Gimme All Your Lovin'" and "Sharp Dressed Man" across 15 studio albums.

Ann Wilson, the lead singer from the rock band Heart, appears with the band as a special guest. Wilson released "Hope & Glory," her debut solo album, in 2007. Her latest solo album, "Immortal," came out in 2018 and her next album, "Fierce Bliss," arrives at the end of April.

Tickets: $30 to $60

Christian stand-up comedian John Crist brings his act to the Iowa State Fair on Wednesday, Aug. 17. The comedian known for his sketch comedy videos on YouTube and Buzzfeed focuses on his experiences as a Christian in the modern day and touches on social media, dating and sports, as well as broader social commentary.

Breakout comedian Dusty Slay — an Alabama native who has appeared on Comedy Central and is soon to appear in Netflix's popular “The Standups" — is the opener.

Kane Brown

When: 8 p.m. Aug. 18

Tickets: $45 to $90

Country singer Kane Brown joins the roster of talent playing the Iowa State Fair Grandstand.

Kane, a rising star in Nashville with songs such as “Famous Friends” and "Homesick,” takes the stage at 8 p.m. Aug. 18 with his combination of country and pop.

Some of Brown's latest hits include “Whiskey Sour” and collaborations with Grammy- and Oscar-winning artist H.E.R. on “Blessed & Free” and with Chris Young on “One Mississippi” and “Famous Friends.”

Brown's opener will be Jessie James Decker, whose songs include “Should Have Known Better” and “The Woman I have Become.”

Disturbed with Chevelle

When: 8 p.m. Aug. 19

Tickets: $40 to $85

The rock band Disturbed, known for songs such as "Down with the Sickness," "Inside the Fire," "Land of Confusion" and "Stricken," is scheduled to perform at the Grandstand at 8 p.m. on Aug. 19.

Special guest Chevelle, an alternative metal band known for albums like "Wonder What's Next" and "La Gargola," opens the show. Chevelle performs hits such as “Send the Pain Below” and "Red.”

Keith Urban

When: 8 p.m. Aug. 20

Tickets: $45 to $90

Country star and four-time Grammy-winner Keith Urban — known for his hits "You'll Think of Me" and "Blue Ain't Your Color" — takes the Grandstand stage on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Accomplished singer-songwriter Ingrid Andress will open for Urban. The Grammy-nominated artist's hits include her platinum-selling debut single "More Hearts Than Mine," nominated for ACM's single of the year.

Carrie Underwood

When: 8 p.m. Aug. 21

Ticket prices: $45 to $100

Country singer Carrie Underwood propelled to fame by her 2005 "American Idol" win appears on Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Grandstand. The seven-time Grammy Award winning artist last performed at the State Fair to a sold out crowd in 2015. Some of her hits include "Something in the Water," "Wasted," "Before He Cheats" and "Some Hearts."

Breakout country music star Adam Sanders will open for Underwood. After writing No. 1 hits for some of America's biggest names in country music including Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley and Blake Shelton, the talented songwriter's solo work has already been featured on Billboard’s Top 40 Country Albums chart.
