Are American Authors a one-hit wonder?

You probably know them for "Best Day of My Life,” which appeared on their 2013 EP, “American Authors” and their debut studio album, “Oh, What a Life.” The song was certified triple-platinum and went to No. 1 on the U.S. Adult charts and No. 2 on the U.S. Rock charts and has been streamed 758 million times on Spotify. It was featured on a Lowe’s commercial in the U.S., hockey’s Stanley Cup playoffs and the feature film “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.” Their new single and album are “Best Night of My Life.”

Maybe you heard the band's original Christmas song

The band made a splash late last year with an original holiday song, “Christmas Karaoke.” The band described it as “probably the best Christmas song to come out since Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas.’”

Have American Authors played in Jacksonville?

The band has played concerts in 20 countries, but has never played in Jacksonville. They played the St. Augustine Amphitheatre in 2019 with O.A.R., and did several Florida shows in 2017 on the Warped Tour, but Saturday’s show will be its first in Jacksonville. Following the game, the band heads out on The Rock Boat XXII, a cruise out of Miami with more than two dozen bands.

Who is the lead singer of American Authors?

The band, including lead singer/guitarist Zac Barnett, came together at the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2006 as the Blue Pages before relocating to New York. American Authors was originally a quartet – Barnett, bass player Dave Rublin, drummer Matt Sanchez and guitar and banjo player James Adam Shelley. Shelley left the group in 2021.
