What we know about the Broken Arrow house fire: 2 adults, 6 children found dead in alleged murder-suicide

BROKEN ARROW — Police are conducting a homicide investigation in the deaths of eight people found inside a house that burned Thursday in Broken Arrow.

At a press conference Friday morning, Broken Arrow police chief Brandon Berryhill confirmed the deaths of eight people in a Broken Arrow home are being investigated as a murder-suicide.

How many children died in the Broken Arrow murder-suicide?

Police said two adults and six children, ranging from 1 to 13 years old, were found dead. Fire Chief Jeremy Moore said it is not believed any of the victims died from the fire.

Broken Arrow police said the bodies of the adult parents were found separate from the bodies of the six children. The children were found in the same room in the portion of the house that was on fire when authorities arrived.

How were the victims of the Broken Arrow murder-suicide killed?

Police did not give the cause of death for any of the bodies but said Berryhill said firearms were recovered from the home. He also added that it had been several years since the police have been called to the residence and there was "nothing out of the ordinary."

Neighbors share information about who lived in the Broken Arrow house

Multiple neighbors said two adults and six children lived at the home. Neighbors said they often saw younger children playing on a trampoline in the home's backyard, and older boys playing on the basketball goals in front of the house.

Broken Arrow police alert public to homicide investigation, house fire

At about 5 p.m. Thursday, the Broken Arrow Police Department announced on social media that officers were investigating a "structure fire with multiple fatalities near Houston and Elm," with a "Homicide Investigation" alert accompanying the statement.
