Schnucks officials say the company's third grocery store in Columbia, which will open its doors March 23, will have a focus on fresh food with modern amenities.

The new store will be located at 5410 Clark Lane as part of Battle Crossing, a soon-to-be shopping center on the southwest corner of East St. Charles Road and Clark Lane, and will mark the company's 112th location in the country and fourth in mid-Missouri.

The company announced the location will be celebrating its grand opening by opening its doors to customers at 7 a.m. and having a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m.

The store's regular hours will be 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The new location will have a greater focus on fresh food, such as produce, meat, seafood and a bakery, he wrote.

The biggest difference compared to other locations is the offering of an expanded prepared hot foods and grab-and-go menu along with an indoor seating area and a "Fresh Pour" drink area, specializing in hot and cold coffee, tea, smoothies, soft drinks, draft beer and wine.

The original anticipated time frame for the opening was this past spring, but the date had to be pushed back due to construction delays, spokesperson Paul Simon said.

The store is expected to bring about 70 new jobs to Columbia.

"My team and I are ready to bring Schnucks' unique combination of variety, value and service to customer in northeast Columbia and the surrounding areas," store manager Chuck Murphy said in a press release. "We're excited to be a part of the neighborhood and welcome those shoppers who may be new to Schnucks as well as those who travel to one of our other area locations."

He is relocating from his position at EatWell and previously managed the Schnucks location on Forum Boulevard.

"We’re excited to create a store that our customers will be able to quickly and easily navigate while still offering an extensive selection of the fresh products for which we’re known," Simon wrote.

The store will feature a CVS pharmacy with a drive-thru.

Schnucks will be offering delivery and curbside pickup options in partnership with InstaCart.

Columbia has one other Schnucks store, located on Forum Boulevard. EatWell, on Providence Road, is also owned by Schnucks and focuses on natural foods.

The new store sits on part of 25 acres owned by the Donna Jean Armstrong Unitrust.
