‘We know it’s coming’: Drivers traverse Snoqualmie Pass ahead of snowstorm

Some drivers picked Tuesday morning as their getaway day, trying to get over Snoqualmie Pass ahead of an early winter storm that could dump snow in the mountains.

Conditions Tuesday morning were clear, cold, and dry, making the ideal driving conditions.

Jervae and Dwight Brooks, traveling from north of Seattle to Montana, took advantage of the good weather.

Jervae Brooks admitted their early start for their trip was due to the forecast.

“We know about it, we were going to take our car but we decided to take the pickup because we watched the news,” Jervae said.

The couple said they wanted to get across while the getting was good. They gassed up their pickup and inflated their tires to travel across Snoqualmie Pass.

Jervae said their preparations started the day before.

“We went ahead and put the snow tires on so we’re ready for that, we’re going over to visit friends in Montana,” Jervae said.

Dwight Brooks also dismissed the idea that they were overly concerned about the snow.

“No – we lived in Minnesota,” he said.

Bill Patty, a trucker, also spoke with KIRO 7 about his trip over the pass.

“I will be going to Mansfield …180 miles,” Bill said. “I will be back over here tomorrow, I’m not real concerned but we know it’s coming.”

Conditions across Snoqualmie Pass are expected to get heavy on Tuesday and Wednesday so traveling might be more difficult as the snow piles up.
