What to know about early voting for Election Day 2023 in New York
Election Day 2023 is Nov. 7, but New Yorkers have the opportunity to cast their votes ahead of the rush. Here's when and where you can vote early:

When is early voting?
Early voting begins on Sunday, Oct. 28 and ends on Sunday, Nov. 5. First time voters need to register to vote by Oct. 28 to be eligible for this year's election. Voting registration can be found on the NYS Board of Elections website, at your county board of elections, or at your local Department of Motor Vehicles. In order to vote, you must:
be a citizen of the United States
be at least 18 years old
live in the state, county, city or village for at least 30 days before the election
not be in prison for a felony

Where can I vote early in Putnam?
Putnam County only has two early voting sites this year:

North Highlands Firehouse, 504 Fishkill Rd. in Cold Spring
Where can I vote early in Rockland?
Rockland County has seven early voting sites this year. Registered county voters can cast their ballots at any of the following locations, regardless of address:

Haverstraw Town Hall, 1 Rosman Road, Garnerville
Orangetown Town Hall, 26 West Orangeburg Road, Orangeburg

Westchester:

On Election Day, polls are open statewide from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
What if I need to vote with an absentee ballot?
New York state allows residents who travel like college students and military servicemembers, or seniors who have medical conditions to vote by absentee ballot. NYS Board of Elections says that in order to request an absentee ballot, you must be:
Absent from your county on Election Day.
Unable to appear at the polls due to temporary or permanent illness or disability.
Unable to appear because you are the primary care giver of one or more people who are ill or physically disabled.
A resident or patient of a Veterans Health Administration Hospital.
In jail or prison for any reason other than a felony conviction. This includes anyone who is awaiting grand jury action, awaiting trial, or serving a sentence for a misdemeanor. Again, residents are not allowed to vote if they are in jail for a felony.
When is the deadline to request absentee ballots?
Absentee ballots must be requested through mail and online by Oct. 23 and in person by Nov. 6. Completed absentee ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 7. They are allowed to be received by Nov. 14. You can request an absentee ballot here.
