The FedEx Ground facility will encompass 217,000 square feet. Concrete has already been poured on what will be the largest site at the business park.
Construction is expected to cost around $12 million.
The company expects to have the site open by late 2022. An exact date has not been set.
Forrest and Jones County officials said they hope bringing in the new FedEx Ground facility will encourage other businesses to come to the airport's business park. Other companies located at the I-59 Supply Chain Park include Ashley's Furniture, NoTrax, Flowers Bakery Distribution Center and Clearview Recovery Center.
“The strategic partnership between Jones County and Forrest County and the Airport Authority has led to the success of the I-59 Supply Chain Park," Jones County Board of Supervisors President Johnny Burnett said. "We are looking forward to the continued economic prosperity of the region through this partnership."
