What to know – FGCU: The Eagles were 17-point underdogs against USC but beat the Trojans 74-61 Monday night in Los Angeles. It was Pat Chambers' first game and win as FGCU's head coach. Stetson transfer Chase Johnston led the way with 20 points and Purdue transfer Isaiah Thompson added 16. The Eagles dominated the boards, outrebounding USC 46-35, the Trojans only shot 15.8% from 3-point range. San Diego: Much like FGCU, San Diego has a new coach and a lot of new faces on the roster. Former UCLA and ST. John's coach Steve Lavin returned to the bench after seven years as a broadcaster to take over the Toreros. Lavin added 12 new players to the roster, including two Pac-12 transfers in Stanford's Jaiden Delaire and Oregon's Eric Williams Jr. Leading scorer Marcellus Earlington, Jase Townsend, Wayne McKinney III, and Yavuz Gultekin are key returners from last season's team that went 15-16. The Toreros also won Monday, beating Sonoma State 81-59. San Diego is a member of the West Coast Conference.
