What to know about Jasmine Carson for LSU women's basketball in NCAA championship game

LSU basketball's Jasmine Carson is explosive in the NCAA championship game against Iowa on Sunday.

She leads the Tigers with 21 points and five of LSU's nine 3-pointers in the first half of the matchup in Dallas. Coming from the bench, she subbed in after Angel Reese and a few others took several fouls.

With Carson's unstoppable scoring efforts, LSU has successfully been able to halt Caitlin Clark's momentum. She made a few fouls before getting benched in the final few minutes of the half.

Carson transferred from West Virginia

After spending two seasons with Georgia Tech and another two at West Virginia, Carson transferred to LSU as a graduate student.

She appeared in 12 games for the Mountaineers during her senior season and shot 45.3-percent from the field with 38 rebounds.

Samuel L. Jackson is a close friend of her family

According to several reports, famous actor and producer Samuel L. Jackson is a friend of Carson's grandmother and is "like an uncle" to her.

Growing up in Memphis, Tennessee, Carson was often visited by Jackson and he supported her at the start of her college career at Georgia Tech. Jackson was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Chattanooga.

He also helped narrate LSU's March Madness hype video ahead of the 2023 Tournament.
