What to know about Louisville, Kentucky, Western Kentucky in NCAA volleyball tournament

The NCAA volleyball tournament kicks off this Friday and three teams from the state of Kentucky are vying to make a run to Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, home of this year's national championship.

Here's what you need to know about top seed Louisville, No. 7 Kentucky and Western Kentucky in the opening round of the tournament.

No. 1 Louisville vs. University of Illinois-Chicago

Date: Dec. 3

Time: 7 p.m.

Location: L&N Federal Credit Union Arena. Louisville, KY

All-time series: Louisville leads 2-1. U of L won in 1981 and 2008 and lost in 1986.

This is UIC's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

No. 7 Kentucky vs. Southeast Missouri State

Date: Dec. 3

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Location: Memorial Coliseum. Lexington, KY

TV: ESPN+

Facts: SEMO will compete in the postseason for the second time in three years. The Redhawks last competed at the NCAA Regional in 2019 also against Kentucky.

Western Kentucky vs. South Carolina

Date: Dec. 3

Time: 4:30 p.m.

Location: Georgia Tech. Atlanta, GA

TV: ESPN+

All-time series: South Carolina leads series 2-1, winning in 1985 and 1993, respectively, while the Hilltoppers won in 1991.
