What you need to know about Nashville area golfers in the state tournament

The 2022 high school golf season will wrap up this week at the Sevierville Golf Club.

Golfers from Division I-A and Division II-A schools will kick the week off with their two-day tournament happening Monday and Tuesday. The season will close out Thursday and Friday with the Division I-AA and Division II-AA tournaments.

Middle Tennessee will be represented throughout the week with 26 area teams competing along with several individual qualifiers who will be looking to bring home state titles.

Here are some individuals to keep an eye on who had stood out in last year's state tournament and will be favorites to bring some hardware home again:

Boys

Joseph Agee, Cookeville: Agee was the low medalist on Cookeville's Region 4-AA championship team shooting a low-score of 66 in the tournament. He finished tied for fifth in last year's state tournament shooting a 141 (-3) over the two-day tournament.

Blades Brown, Brentwood Academy, Fr.: Brown was the 2021 Division II-A champion shooting 11 under over the two-day state tournament. He will likely be the favorite to repeat again after winning the Division II-AA Middle Region title by a shot over Ensworth's Tommy Frist.

Jason Campbell, Summertown, So.: Campbell was the Region 5-A champion and the low-medalist for the Eagles' region championship team. He finished tied for seventh in last year's Division I Class AA state tournament shooting nine over (153).

Maddox Crowder, Macon County, So.: Crowder qualified for the state tournament individually. He won last year's Division I Class AA tournament shooting 9 under (135) over the two-day state tournament.

Jackson Herrington, Dickson County, Jr.: Herrington finished second in the Region 7-AA Tournament behind his teammate Bo Kerr. Last year he finished fourth in the state tournament shooting a four under (140) over the two days.

Girls

Ava Bankston, Lipscomb Academy, Sr.: Bankston finished as the runner-up in the Division II-AA Middle Region Tournament two shots off of her teammate Jillian Bowman. She finished as the runner up last year's state tournament shooting four over and three shots off of first.

Karlie Campbell, Summertown, Jr.: Campbell was this year's Region 5-A champion shooting a 76 in the tournament. She finished as the Division I Class A runner up last season shooting seven under and just a shot off of the champion Sophie Linder.

Sophia Dipaolo, Franklin, Sr.: Dipaolo was the Division I Class AA girls champion last season, shooting 4 under in the state tournament. She won the Region 6-AA Tournament with a low score of 71 making her a three-time region champion.

Sophie Linder, Gordonsville, Sr.: Linder has been the class of girls golf off the last four years with four straight state titles. She won last season's Division I Class A girls championship, shooting 8 under.

Caroline Pardue, Providence Christian, Jr.: Pardue won the Division II Class A championship last season after victory in a seven-hole playoff. She'll get the chance to defend her title after leading PCA to the Division II-A Middle Region championship.
