WEST LAFAYETTE - Purdue's 2022-23 non-conference basketball schedule is set.

Here's the latest information:

Milwaukee

Location: Mackey Arena

Date: Nov. 8

The skinny: Season opener for the Boilermakers. It's the first meeting between the programs since 2005, Matt Painter's first season. Milwaukee won that matchup 73-68 at Mackey Arena.

Austin Peay

Date: Nov. 11

The skinny: Friday night matchup the day before the football team travels to Illinois. The Boilermakers are hosting the Governors for the third time, but the first since 2010. Purdue is 2-0 against Austin Peay.

Gavitt Games

Location: Mackey Arena

Opponent: Marquette

Date: Nov. 15

The skinny: If Purdue can play Florida State in back-to-back ACC/Big Ten Challenges, why can't the Boilermakers face Marquette in three consecutive Gavitt Games? Another decision made by TV people who have no business pairing teams together.

PURDUE AND NIL: Boilermaker Alliance launches collective

PURDUE AND NIL: Collective 'is meant to be a sustainable situation'

PURDUE AND NIL: Can Alliance, JPC co-exist in same financial space?

After visiting the Golden Eagles in 2017 and 2019, at least Marquette is coming to Mackey Arena this time. Purdue should drop out of the Gavitt Games if all it's going to do is play Marquette. Same for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Phil Knight Legacy Tournament

Location: Portland, Oregon

Dates: Nov. 24-27

The skinny: The Boilermakers will open against West Virginia on Thursday, Nov. 24 at 10 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Purdue will face the winner/loser of Gonzaga and Portland State on Friday, Nov. 25 at the Moda Center. The winners play actually Saturday morning (12:30 ET) and the losers play at 10 p.m. on Friday. The championship game is Sunday, Nov. 27 at 3:30 p.m. on ABC. The other side of the bracket features Duke vs. Oregon State and Florida vs. Xavier. The third, fifth and seventh-place games will also be played on Sunday. The Boilermakers are 7-1 all-time against West Virginia.

ACC/Big Ten Challenge

Location: Tallahassee, Fla.

Date: Nov. 30

The skinny: For the third time in the last five years, ESPN has decided that a Purdue-Florida State matchup is the best for both teams. Last year, the Boilermakers clobbered the Seminoles by 28 points at Mackey Arena. Purdue and Florida State will be meeting for the fourth time in the last five years, including a tournament in Florida in 2019.

Hofstra

Location: Mackey Arena

Date: Wednesday, Dec. 7

The skinny:  This is the second meeting between the two programs. The Pride played at Mackey Arena during the 2012-13 season.

Indy Classic

Location: Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indianapolis

Date: Dec. 17

The skinny: The replacement for the Crossroads Classic is a matchup against Davidson. It's part of a doubleheader that features Ball State and Illinois State. The appeal of facing Davidson is Fletcher and Foster Loyer. Fletcher is a freshman with the Boilermakers and his older brother, Foster, transferred from Michigan State to join the Wildcats, who have a new coach after Bob McKillop retired after 33 years. His son, Matt, takes over the program.

New Orleans

Date: Dec. 21

The skinny: Last game before Christmas break. The Boilermakers are 4-0 against Privateers but the two programs haven't played since 2005.

Florida A&M

Date: Dec. 29

The skinny: First game after Christmas break. The game is on the same day as the Pinstripe Bowl, which starts at 2 p.m. The only meeting between the two programs came in 1997 with the Boilermakers posting a 118-77 victory at Mackey Arena. Big Ten play resumes after this matchup.

Big Ten

No dates yet, only opponents at this point. Look for the league to start the conference season in early December as all teams will probably play two games - one home, one away - and then resume the schedule after Christmas.

Here are Purdue's Big Ten opponents for 2022-23:

Home: Illinois, Iowa, Rutgers

Away: Michigan, Northwestern, Wisconsin

Home/Away: Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State
