Weld RE-4 School District

The Weld RE-4 School District, which serves Windsor, Severance and surrounding areas into west Greeley, called a snow day for Wednesday “due to predicted inclement weather and potential hazardous travel conditions,” a district spokesperson said in an email that went out at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

All of the district’s after-school and evening activities, including athletics, will be canceled as well, as will its AlphaBEST programming.

As is the case with Poudre and Thompson school districts, which announced their closures earlier in the day Tuesday, Wednesday will be a true snow day with no remote learning, the email read.

After-school and evening activities scheduled for Tuesday will go on as scheduled, the district said.

Thompson School District

Thompson School District also made the decision early to call a snow day for Wednesday, announcing the closure of all schools and district offices a little after 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The closure is “due to inclement weather that is forecast to begin late tonight and extend into the daytime hours,” a district spokesperson said in an email. In-person, remote and Thompson Online learning programs are all canceled, the district said, as all activities, athletics and before and after-school care programs.

Poudre School District

PSD's announcement to close schools Wednesday, Feb. 22, and cancel all after-school activities and athletics, including state-playoff basketball games, and AlphaBest before- and after-school daycare was made just after noon Tuesday.

The decision to close schools was reached, the district said, “due to predicted inclement weather and road conditions.”

“This is NOT a remote learning day,” the district said in an email sent to staff, students and their families and shared with media outlets.

High school students who attend classes at Front Range Community College or Colorado State University should check with those schools to determine if classes are in session, the email read.

The closure does not impact after-school activities or athletics scheduled for Tuesday “as of now,” the email read.
