Know someone from the Charlotte area who ran the Boston Marathon? Here’s how they did.

It was a little wet and a little windy, but otherwise it was a pretty darn good weather for a marathon on Monday in Boston, which for the 127th year hosted the world’s most prestigious 26.2-mile race.

With temperatures hovering in the runner-friendly low-50s under overcast skies, tens of thousands of people completed the Boston Marathon on a day that also somberly marked the 10th anniversary of the terrorist bombings that killed three people and injured more than 260 others.

Of those tens of thousands, nearly 150 made the trek north to Massachusetts for the event from the Charlotte area.

Top local finishers included:

• 34-year-old Chris Zuerner of Charlotte, a former NC State soccer player who posted a time of 2 hours, 26 minutes and 58 seconds as the area’s fastest man (and 80th overall);

• Megan Hepp Hovis, 41, a registered dietitian, running coach and mom from Charlotte who ran a 2:57:57 to stake her claim as the area’s fastest female finisher. Hovis ran in college for the University of New Hampshire and notably finished 12th at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon (edging out Desiree Davila, who 10 years later won the Boston Marathon under her married name, Des Linden);

• Marion Donald of Charlotte, a former Charlotte Latin School cross-country runner and a current University of Virginia student who at 21 was the day’s youngest finisher from the area. Donald crossed the line in 3:30:01;

• and the oldest finisher, 70-year-old Lincolnton resident David Garmon who finished on Monday in 4:35:28. Ten years ago, he completed the race about five minutes before the bombs were detonated along Boylston Street behind him.
