Meet the new teachers as the 2023-24 school year is set to kick off at St. Patrick School.

Susan Alverio

  • Position: Social studies teacher

  • Year graduated from college: 2022 from University of Northern Iowa

  • Degree: Secondary History Education and the Study of Religion

  • Experience: This is my first year teaching and I am excited to see where this adventure takes me

  • Hobbies: Reading, music and playing board games with friends and family

  • Comments: I am so excited to be a part of the St. Patrick family this year!

  • Degree: Elementary Education (major), Literary Education (minor)

  • Experience: I subbed for Southeast Polk during college and for Colfax-Mingo after. I was also a Christian camp counselor for 1 summer.

  • Family: I live with my husband Connor and our 2 cats in Altoona.

  • Hobbies: I love to sing, read, travel and hammock when it’s nice outside.

  • Experience: I graduated in December of 2021 from UNI and was a long-term sub for the 2022-23 school year at Panorama Elementary in Panora. I am currently taking masters classes for my reading endorsement.

  • Family: Daughter of Ted and Joni Hawley. Youngest sibling of 3. Godmother to my nephew.

  • Hobbies: Love spending time with my family and friends. Love to read in my free time. Enjoy doing puzzles and spending time outside.

  • Comments: I look forward to helping my students grow in their faith and education.
