What do you get when you cross a teen dramedy with an old-fashioned takedown of bad guys? Then you've got yourself Netflix's newest teen action comedy, Teenage Bounty Hunters. Brought to the streaming giant from the executive producers of Orange Is the New Black and Weeds, the series follows twin teenagers who, after unexpectedly discovering they're good at bounty hunting, partner with a professional bounty hunter to protect the city of Atlanta from baddies causing havoc to their (seemingly) idyllic hometown. Oh, and because they need a little money on the side.

With the series having some... unique moments (the pilot opens with one sister convincing her boyfriend they needed to have sex in the car right now), along with some fun action sequences (think The Umbrella Academy: teen edition), viewers are already wondering if the series will be greenlit for a second season. While it's a little too hard to tell, given how new the show is, there are some insights for what could potentially happen if Netflix decides to gift television watchers with a season 2.

There’s currently no confirmed second season.

While the show comes with great characters and a unique storyline, the streaming giant hasn’t announced if the show will get a second season. Don’t be alarmed, though, because it usually takes about 6-8 weeks for the higher-ups at Netflix to make the decision. As for when you might expect to see a season 2 on screen? It might be a while, as we’re still in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it’s been a slow start for Hollywood to restart production on any show, let alone brand new ones.

The show will further explore some major cliffhangers.

With the season finale dropping some major family truth bombs (Sterling is not Blair's sister, and actually her cousin?), a second season could possibly see some expansion on this particular storyline. Who exactly is Dana? What happened for Sterling to move in with her aunt and uncle? And this is before all the teen drama gets in the way, with Blair and Miles' relationship needing reparation and the love triangle that is Sterling. Luke and April.

While there are so many questions which need some explanations (maybe in the form of a really long novella?), this also leaves room for new storylines to emerge, if there's a chance for a season renewal.

Expect more boundaries to be pushed.

While the show’s main storyline features twin teenage bounty hunters as they fight fugitives throughout the city of Atlanta, the show also makes a point of exploring new territories on topics that could be considered taboo on teen sitcoms, like how religion influences the girls' idea of sex and their own sexual identities.

“Most American teenagers are religious, and most American teenagers are sexual and have sex lives,” showrunner Kathleen Jordan told Entertainment Weekly about the storyline. “"Most American teenagers are religious, and most American teenagers are sexual and have sex lives. So we wanted to reconcile that. There's this kind of belief that those two things can't exist at the same time, or harmoniously, so we wanted to make sure that especially Sterling's relationship with her religion and her sexuality didn't feel in conflict, because ultimately a tenet of Christianity is that if you believe in God and you believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you're good, you're forgiven."

Who can fans expect to return?

From the way the season finale left TV-goers on a cliffhanger, there’s a good chance that the show’s major players will return. Keep an eye out for what happens to Sterling (Maddie Phillips), Blair (Angelica Better Fellini), their parents Debbie and Anderson (Virginia Williams and Mackenzie Astin) Bowser (Kadeem Hardison), Terrance Coin (Method Man), Miles (Myles Evans, Luke (Spencer House), April (Devon Hales) and Yolanda (Shirley Rumierk), as a large cast always means new storylines could develop between unexpected characters.

Teenage Bounty Hunters is now streaming on Netflix.
