What to know about new Tennessee Titans kicker Josh Lambo, former soccer goalkeeper

The Tennessee Titans brought up kicker Josh Lambo from the practice squad this week to fill in for the injured Randy Bullock.

Bullock suffered an injury before Tennessee's game with the Broncos but was able to kick in that contest. He is out for the Titans' Thursday night matchup at the Packers.

Here's what to learn about him:

Accurate kicker, out of practice

Over seven NFL seasons, Lambo has converted 87.1% of his field-goal attempts but has only kicked eight field goals over the last two seasons. He made all five attempts in 2020 but missed all three in 2021 while appearing in seven games over that span.

He has made 143 of 159 extra points, going 5 of 7 last season. He has scored 527 points in the NFL.

Like many kickers, Lambo got his start in soccer and made it to the professional ranks in the U.S. He played in the MLS reserve division after being drafted by FC Dallas. He was on loan to FC Tampa Bay when he made his professional debut in 2010, but bounced around after that.

Lambo, a goalkeeper, was a member of the U.S. team during the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, playing in a couple of the games as a substitute. He was a member of the U-20 national team in the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup but did not play.

Texas A&M career

After making a name for himself in soccer, Lambo enrolled at Texas A&M to play football. He made his debut against South Carolina State in 2012. He made 99.1% of his extra points and 84% of his field goals in a little over three years.

He scored 172 points before going undrafted and signing with San Diego.

Lawsuit against Jaguars

In December of 2021, Lambo claimed that then-Jaguars coach Urban Meyer kicked him during practice. Meyer was fired shortly after. Lambo sued the Jaguars for emotional damage done by Urban Meyer while he was the coach.

The lawsuit was dismissed on Wednesday but the dismissal allows Lambo to amend his suit and refile.
