What to know: UC Riverside Highlanders men's basketball at UTEP Miners

What, when, where

UTEP opens its run in the Cerebro Sports Golden Turkey Classic with a 7 p.m. Monday tip against UC Riverside in the Don Haskins Center.

The game will be aired on 600 ESPN El Paso and streamed on CUSAtv. Tickets range from $12 to $54.

The Miners conclude the event Wednesday against Florida A&M.

Who is UC Riverside?

The 3-2 Highlanders of the Big West Conference earned a signature win this year when they beat Arizona State in Tempe 66-65 and are coming off a blowout victory against Bethesda.

Riverside is balanced, with five players averaging between 8.5 and 11.5 points, led by sophomore guard Zyon Pullin, who averages 11.5 points and 6.7 rebounds.

The Highlanders were 14-8 last season and were picked to finish third this season in the Big West preseason poll.

Quoting the coach

"We have to get ready for a really good UC Riverside team," coach Joe Golding said. "They beat Arizona State last week, they are playing really, really, really good basketball. They had a great season last year and they return a lot of guys. We have our work cut out for us."
