Voting early in Rockford-area April elections? Here's what you need to know

The April 4 consolidated election includes a number of local and Rockford area races.

Rockford School Board and numerous alderman, trustee, and commissioner seats in municipalities surrounding Rockford are up for grabs.

Also, Durand, Pecatonica, the Winnebago Park District, Shirland Township and the Harlem Roscoe Fire Protection District are all seeking to pass referendums.

Similar races will be held in Boone and Stephenson counties.

Early voting begins Feb. 23.

Early voting information

Early voting in Rockford is available at the Rockford Board of Elections, 301 S. Sixth St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For residents who live outside of the city of Rockford, they can vote at the Winnebago County Election Office, 404 Elm St. You can vote early from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 1.

If you live in Belvidere or Boone County, you can vote early in person at the Boone County Clerk's Office at 1212 Logan Avenue, Belvidere.

For residents in Freeport and Stephenson County, early voting will be conducted at the lower level of the Stewart Centre, 50 West Douglas St., Freeport.

Early voting ends April 3.

Vote-by-mail

Rockford residents can obtain a vote-by-mail application in person from the election office, by calling 815-987-5750 or by printing out the vote-by-mail application, filling it out, signing it and mailing to the Rockford Board of Elections, 301 S. Sixth St., Rockford, IL 61104.

Residents outside of Rockford can request an application via email to the Winnebago County Clerk's Office at elections@clerk.wincoil.gov; or call the county clerk's office at 815-319-4252 and an application will be sent via mail or email. Printed out and completed forms can be mailed to: Winnebago County Clerk’s Office, 404 Elm St. Room 101, Rockford, IL 61101.

Boone County residents can apply to vote-by-mail via the county website. Once you fill it out, you'll mail it to the Boone County Clerk, 1212 Logan Ave, Suite 103, Belvidere, IL 61008.

Stephenson County residents can apply for vote by mail ballot by mail or in person at the election authority's office. Applications for vote by mail voting may be obtained by calling 815-235-8289 or writing to the office of County Clerk's Office, 50 W. Douglas St., Suite 500, Freeport, IL 61032.
