Knox County, OSF plan pediatric COVID-19 vaccine clinics; 52% of people fully vaccinated

GALESBURG — Knox County has administered more than 55,960 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, as of Nov. 8, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

That's up 2.24% from the previous week's tally of 54,732 COVID-19 doses administered.

In Knox County, 52% of people living in Knox County are fully vaccinated as of Nov. 8. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers someone fully vaccinated two weeks after they've been given a single-dose shot (Johnson & Johnson) or a second shot (either Pfizer or Moderna).

Illinois reported 1,720,345 total cases of coronavirus, an increase of 1% from the week before.

The five counties with the highest percentage of their population fully vaccinated in Illinois as of Nov. 8 are DuPage County (66%), Cook County (63%), Lake County (59%), Kendall County (59%) and Chicago (59%).

OSF HealthCare will offer a vaccination clinic for ages 5 to 11 in Galesburg from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov.13 at OSF Medical Group–Pediatrics connected to OSF HealthCare St. Mary Medical Center, 3315 N. Seminary St.

Kids ages 5 to 11 will receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. The doses are administered 21 days apart, and a child’s second dose can be easily scheduled during the first dose appointment.

  • 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 13 at the Unified Command Vaccine Center, 1150 W. Carl Sandburg Drive, Pfizer Pediatric Clinic for ages 5 to 11. Registration is required.

  • 7 to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16, Walk-in Booster Clinic at the Unified Command Vaccine Center, 1150 W. Carl Sandburg Drive. Moderna, Pfizer & Janssen, 12 years of age and up.

  • 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16 at the Unified Command Vaccine Center, 1150 W. Carl Sandburg Drive, 12 years of age and up.
