'Doing what they loved, fishing.' Altona pond drowning victims were brothers

ALTONA — The Knox County Sheriff's Department has released the names of the two men who drowned in a private pond near here Saturday.

Brothers Steven Dennison, age 73, of Altona and Keith Dennison, age 67, of Galva, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the incident which occured around noon Saturday at a privately owned pond in the 2600 block of Knox Highway 12. Preliminary autopsy results do not indicate any evidence of foul play.

According to the obituary for Steven Dennison on the Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory website, the pair were fishing when the accident occured.

The Knox County Sheriff's Department was assisted in the investigation and recovery by Altona Fire Department, Victoria Fire Department, AOW ambulance and Copperas Creek Dive Team.
