Knoxville-area high school boys basketball rankings: William Blount earns No. 1 spot

Here are the top 10 Knoxville-area boys' high school basketball teams ranked by Knox News as district play continues.

1. William Blount (27-4): William Blount is on a seven-game win streak. The Governors defeated Bearden 64-41 in the District 4-4A semifinals. Juniors Grady Robertson and Caden Windle combined for 43 points, outscoring Bearden on their own. Last week: Ranked No. 2.

2. Fulton (24-5): Fulton has won 13 of its last 14 games, including a 65-52 win against Lenoir City on Saturday. The Falcons will play Austin-East in the District 5-3A semifinals on Tuesday. Last week: Ranked No. 1.

3. Webb (23-7): The Spartans are the Division II-AA East Region champions after ending their season with a 7-1 region record, defeating McCallie 58-47 and Baylor 41-36 last week. Last week: Ranked No. 4.

4. Knoxville Catholic (20-7): Catholic entered the week on a three-game losing streak and bounced back to win its last two games. Sophomore Deondrea Lindsey averaged 19.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in wins against Chattanooga Christian and Tri-Cities Christian. Last week: Ranked No. 5.

5. Oak Ridge (22-5): After having its nine-game win streak snapped against Fulton on Feb. 11, Oak Ridge lost 66-62 to Knoxville Central in overtime in the District 3-4A semifinals. The last time the Wildcats played Central (15-15), they won by 18 points on Jan. 20. Last week: Ranked No. 3.

6. Austin East (21-7): The Roadrunners are on a nine-game win streak. Their last game was a 74-58 win over South Doyle on Saturday. Last week: Ranked No. 6.

7. Hardin Valley Academy (23-8): The Hawks bounced back from a two-game losing streak to end the regular season. In the first two rounds of the District 4-4A tournament, they beat Heritage 63-28 and Farragut 56-48. HVA will play William Blount for the fourth time in the district championship game. Last week: Ranked No. 7.

8. Karns (21-7): Karns beat Knoxville West 88-83 in overtime in the District 3-4A semifinals. The Beavers will play Knoxville Central on Tuesday in the district championship game. Last week: Ranked No. 8.

9. Alcoa (22-8): Junior Jahvin Carter averaged 27 points per game in Alcoa’s wins over Bearden and Union County last week. Alcoa will face Gatlinburg-Pittman in the District 2-2A championship game on Tuesday. The last time these teams met was on Feb. 3, Alcoa won 63-62. Last week: Ranked No. 9.

10. Kingston (22-4): The Yellowjackets are on a three-game win streak, including their 68-62 victory against Loudon in the District 3-2A semifinals. Last week: Not ranked.
