Knoxville-area high school boys basketball rankings: Oak Ridge is the No. 1

Here’s a look at the top 10 Knoxville-area boys high school basketball teams ranked by Knox News entering Week 12 of the TSSAA season. There's a new No. 1 team and a new team that enters the top 10.

1. Oak Ridge (18-3): The Wildcats are the newest team at the spot because of their balanced scoring attack. It has an impressive core of players in Kaden Brightharp, Ray’Quan Watson, Grayson Strader and Brennen Scott. Oak Ridge has only lost games on the road to good teams in Maryville, Cleveland and West. Last week Ranked No. 3.

2. William Blount (22-4): Last week, William Blount defeated McMinn County and Hardin Valley Academy for the second time out of three games this season. The Govenors' Caden Windle averaged 21.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in those games. Last week Ranked No. 1.

WEEK 11 TOP PERFORMERS:Knoxville area high school basketball top performers for Week 11

3. Knoxville Webb (18-6): The Spartans defeated McCallie 63-58 in its lone game last week. They have only lost to one Knoxville-area school in William Blount and another team from Tennessee in Stone Memorial (19-3). Last week Ranked No. 4.

4. Fulton (19-5): Fulton beat Sequoyah 75-38 in its only game last week, pushing its win streak to five games. Last week Ranked No. 5.

5. Knoxville Catholic (17-4): Deondrea Lindsey averaged had 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in Catholic wins over McCallie on Tuesday and Chattanooga Christian on Friday. Last week Ranked No. 8.

6. Hardin Valley (19-6): The Hawks went 1-2 last week, losing to District 4-4A opponents Farragut 73-54 and William Blount 63-57 in overtime. Last week Ranked No. 2.

7. Bearden (15-8): The Bulldogs beat Maryville 75-68 but had its four-game win streak snap in a 52-50 loss to Farragut. Bearden will have a chance to rise in the rankings when it plays William Blount on Tuesday and Hardin Valley Academy this week. Last week Ranked No. 7.

8. Karns (18-6): Since its 67-64 loss to Oak Ridge on Jan. 13, Karns has not lost a game. After two wins against Knoxville Central and Powell, the Beavers have won 10 of their last 11 games. Last week Ranked No. 9.

9. Alcoa (16-7): For the third week in a row, Jahvin Carter has scored at least 40 points. He scored 44 points against Sevier County on Tuesday and the Tornadoes have won eight straight. Last week Ranked No. 10

10. Farragut (15-10): The Admirals had arguably its best week of the season, knocking off Hardin Valley 73-54 on Tuesday and Bearden 52-50 on Friday after a game-winner by sophomore Dominic VanAcker. Although Farragut has 10 losses, only three have been by double-digit margins. Last week: Not ranked.
