Knoxville falls to Fairfield, 42-22

Sep. 20—FAIRFIELD — The Panthers were able to gain some momentum offensively on Friday but the Fairfield offense was a consistent scoring threat all night as they went on to defeat Knoxville 42-22 in the final week of non-district play.

Fairfield jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter as both teams would score once in the second to make it 21-7 in favor of the Trojans heading into the break.

Knoxville found the end zone in the third and fourth quarter but Fairfield would maintain their lead to the end of regulation.

Sophomore quarterback Noah Keefer finished 5-of-9 for 80 yards and one interception for Knoxville. He spread the ball around well with five different receivers catching a pass led by Braiden Dudley's 25-yard reception.

The ground game was another bright spot for the Panthers as they finished with 171 yards on 32 carries (5.3 yards per carry). Montalvo led the way with 48 yards on 13 carries while Keefer and Tristin DeJong both scored from 11 yards out.

Montalvo also had the big special teams highlight as he returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown.

Knoxville (0-4) celebrates homecoming week this week as they take on Creston (3-1) at Ken Locke Stadium on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
