Koln Oppold lands on all-GPAC first team for third time for DWU men's basketball

Mar. 1—SIOUX CITY, Iowa. — Koln Oppold of Dakota Wesleyan men's basketball earned his third-straight selection to the Great Plains Athletic Conference's first-team honor squad, announced in a Wednesday release.

The 6-foot-4 forward was the lone Tiger named to either all-conference men's team, Oppold led DWU in scoring (13.7 points per game) and assists (4.4) and was second in rebounding (6.6).

Sophomore guards Kallan Herman and Jakob Dobney received honorable mention nods for DWU. Herman started 22 games and was second on the team in scoring at 12.9 points per game on 41.2% shooting from 3-point range. Dobney started all 29 contests for the Tigers, 11.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

Jamestown's 6-foot-9 senior forward Mason Walters garnered GPAC player of the year honors for the third time after earning the conference's freshman of the year award in 2019-20. Walters averaged 26.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game for the Jimmies who went 25-5 overall and 15-5 in conference play.

Morningside's Trey Powers, a 6-foot-5 junior forward, was named GPAC defensive player of the year, while Hastings' Reggie Thomas received the freshman of the year award. Morningside's Trent Miller was honored as coach of the year.
