Kookie Monster, maple bacon, and Boston cream: Grab a donut for National Doughnut Week in Greater Hartford
Donuts aren’t just a child’s treat. These delicious doughy morsels have been flavored, decorated and twisted into shapes. Bakers have gone above and beyond in creativity to surprise hungry customers with unique flavors.
At Donut Crazy in West Hartford and locations all over the state, donut connoisseurs craft donut of the month flavors.
“Our cannoli is the most popular and there isn’t a kid who doesn’t love Kookie Monster,” Irene Luaices of Donut Crazy said. “French toast is my favorite. I just find it’s the perfect amount of maple and confectionary sugar.”
Another customer favorite is the Black Hawk, named after Sikorsky Aircraft since the first Donut Crazy opened in Shelton. It’s a chocolate cake donut with chocolate and Oreos.
During the weekends though, you will want to get to Donut Crazy early. It’s standing room only as people walk through West Hartford Center.
