Kooky and spooky, 'The Addams Family' hits the stage this weekend at Ashland High School

ASHLAND − "They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky. They’re all together ooky, 'The Addams Family'."

"The Addams Family," a musical comedy taken from the TV show in the mid-1960s, will be performed in Archer Auditorium at Ashland High School at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

The show is based on "The Addams Family" characters created by Charles Addams. Although numerous film and television adaptations of Addams' cartoons exist, the musical is the first stage show based on the characters, according to a news release.

"The Addams Family" is the 67th musical production at Ashland High School.

The cast features seniors Andy Roblin as Gomez and Katherine Stefaniuk as Morticia. Sophomore Megan Harrigan is making her AHS debut as Wednesday. Sami Steinhauser, Jacob Slade, Zak Zipfel, Kayden Brafford, Kris Wood, Drew Schwartz and Annie Lavengood round out the cast.

Thirty-five students make up the ensemble of dead ancestors. Cousin Itt and Thing also make appearances.

The orchestral accompaniment from the pit features 15 high school students and three staff members. The technical crew is composed of more than 45 high school students.

The producer is Rich Wasowski, and his production team includes eight AHS theater alumni.
