A new Korean BBQ and hot pot restaurant has opened in Columbia. Check out where

A new restaurant is on the scene in the Harbison area in Columbia.

KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot has opened at 280 Harbison Blvd., just west of Interstate 26. The restaurant space there was formerly a Krab Hut location, and before that it was a Chili’s. The site is across the street from Columbiana Centre mall and adjacent to a host of nearby retail and restaurant establishments.

“Hi KPOT Fam, we’re so excited to finally announce KPOT Columbia in South Carolina is NOW OPEN!,” the business said in a recent Facebook post. “We can’t wait to serve up some fun on our piping hot grills and see what unforgettable memories you make with us! We’ve got (all-you-can-eat Korean) BBQ & Hot Pot, so don’t forget to come hungry and ready to FEAST!”

According to the menu on KPot’s website, hot pot is an Asian cooking method prepared with a simmering pot of soup stock at the customer’s table and includes a host of East Asian ingredients.

“While the hot pot is kept simmering, ingredients are placed in the pot and are cooked at the table, similar to fondue,” the KPot site says. “Typical hot pot dishes include thinly sliced meat, leaf vegetables, mushrooms, wontons, egg dumplings, tofu and seafood. The cooked food is usually eaten with a dipping sauce.”

KPot currently has restaurants in a number of states, including Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Texas and Pennsylvania, with locations planned a host of other states.

The Harbison KPot has opened in a bustling area. More than 29,000 car per day pass down that stretch of Harbison Boulevard, per S.C. Department of Transportation data.

Meanwhile, another KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot is planned for Columbia, at the former Wild Wing Cafe spot in the Village at Sandhill in northeast Columbia. An opening date for that location has not yet been announced.
